Club WeSUP Activities
Our number one priority is making sure that Club WeSUP is the most fun, exciting, welcoming club for all its members. We do this by offering as many as 10-15 activities a week, combining training, fitness, adventures and social paddling, as well as socials. If you’ve already been to our Club WeSUP page, and want to find out more about what activities we’ve got to offer, please read on!
Classes and Clinics
The first activity that every Club WeSUP member does is our Beginner Lesson. This gives all our members the basic skills they need to get themselves out on the water and start paddling. After this, there is a whole range of other classes and clinics to help you develop your skills to whatever level you choose. Whether you’re happy as a leisure paddler, looking to travel great distances or get into racing, you can use the Club WeSUP Classes and Clinics to reach your desired goals.
Beginners get 1 hour of instructor time in which you will cover all fundamental SUP skills required to become a confident and capable paddler. For returning clubbies this session can be more adaptable to get you back up to speed.
Once you’ve found your feet on the boards and mastered the three main paddle strokes, take it to the next level with our Turn Clinic. This will teach you how to become more agile on the board, and give you greater efficiency and fluidity while you paddle.
We’ll teach you everything you need to know about how to read weather and wind charts so that you can understand and learn to predict when is best to paddle.
Want to merge skill with style on the boards? The Footwork Clinic sessions are for you! Learn functional skills such as step-back turns and safe falls as well as style manoeuvres like cross-stepping and jumps. Combined these will have your paddleboarding looking and feeling slick and stylish.
There is no denying that sometimes our sunny shores can be assaulted by strong winds from most directions. If you want to paddle in these conditions, it’s important to learn how to optimise your skills. The Wind Clinic will set you up to be a strong and safe paddler in the wind
More frequently in the winter Falmouth’s bay is hit by winter swells, and they are always common on the other coasts. The Paddling in Swell Clinic will teach you how to safely enter and exit the water in wavy conditions, and cope with rolling swells on the water.
Paddle technique is more important than strength when becoming an advanced paddler. Using your whole body increases efficiency and recovery, and is completely necessary for long paddles.
When paddling long distances in a group it’s important that all members are able to look after each other should an emergency arise. The Rescue and Recovery Clinic will provide you with the skills you need to keep you and your group safe.
The Advanced Lesson is designed to give you the skills you need to become an independent paddler. Combining paddling in difficult conditions with self recovery, and recovery of others, this is the lesson that will allow you to paddle without the support of WeSUP staff.
WeSUP Fitness is our kind of exercise. Take your routine out of the gym, and onto the ocean! As well as Stand Up Paddleboarding generally being excellent for your health, we run several dedicated WeSUP Fitness classes throughout the week. If you’d like to know more about how WeSUP can change your whole perspective on fitness, health and wellbeing, check out our blog.
Whilst focusing your mind and body during the class, you completely forget that you’re giving yourself the ultimate work out! Each session brings loads of laughs and loads of wobbles and a few soggy souls, but by the end of each session everyone feels stabilised, energised, and much stronger throughout their whole body.
WeSUP prides itself on being a non-competitive club, but when we race our pride goes out the door! Enjoy fun competition, dirty tactics, and a chance to use your paddling, turning and balancing skills together.
High intensity interval training is very effective for fitness, so we decided to put it on paddleboards! Staggered exercises and sprints get your heart racing and leave you feeling fit, and if you need a cool down the river is just a jump away!
Start the day right with WeSUP. Whether it’s a jog around the point, some beach yoga or a refreshing swim, gentle activity followed by a SUP will have your endorphins at a perfect high to set you up for a productive day at work or uni!
We are all guilty of letting the stresses and anxieties of a fast paced life effect our mood and mental wellbeing. The sea is a beautiful naturally meditative, healing space. Leave your worries on the land and enjoy our guided meditation classes.
Club Social Paddling
To us, the most important thing about Club WeSUP is the people we get to share our experiences with. We love learning new skills through SUP training, testing ourselves with WeSUP Fitness and going on thrilling adventures, however sometimes there’s nothing more simple and enjoyable than casually paddling about in the river with a group of great friends. And that’s why Social Paddling forms the core of our Club WeSUP activities.
Who said paddling was just about fitness? Whatever your guilty pleasure we can provide! With our local discount at Bistro 8, we can go for a night paddle and then indulge in a pint and a pizza. Or perhaps to a secret cove for a classy picnic and a bottle of bubbly.
See Falmouth from a new perspective, illuminated by nothing but blinking stars, a full moon and the distant lights of ships on the horizon and the town centre. Let us guide you on a tour that will let you learn to appreciate the darkness as much as the light.
What could be better than a serene morning paddle to a secluded riverside wilderness, followed by a delicious breakfast, watching the day begin?
We love the people in Club WeSUP, it would be nothing without the incredible individuals who contribute to our happiness every day. Our shared love of the Hamble River, the natural environment and making the most of every opportunity, bonds us into a family who are more than just paddling company. For this reason, we also run regular social events and activities.
We are fortunate enough to have a fantastic club house in front of a stunning river view. Here at WeSUP, BBQ is our favourite cuisine and we believe they should be a regular feature all year round!
Our club house isn’t just the best hub for paddling. Our parties are envied by all and we’ll be hosting one every month. After the party we head into town where the dancing will continue through to the early hours, it’s the WeSUP way.
After the debauchery of the night before the sins of our beach house parties can be washed away by a dip into the chilly seas. Nothing cures a hangover better.
A picnic breakfast at sunrise on a secluded river bank – sounds like paradise to us!
Tours and Adventures
We love paddling on the Hamble, but we also know Stand Up Paddleboarding is the best way to explore all rivers and waterways. SUPing allows you to cover great distances while feeling like you are walking on the water. From WeSUP HQ at Universal Marina, we will explore every creek, river and estuary. Plus there are more hidden treasures dispersed across the county, just a short drive away. Our Tours and Adventures range from a quick paddle to the pub to Overnight Camping Adventures to the most secret secluded spots.
