Practical Paddling Planning Clinic (PPPC)

Stand up paddle boarding started its conception in the waves of Hawaii. Since the sport landed in the UK, Wesup has been driving the message that environmental exploration is the most dynamic, inspiring and accessible way to experience the sport. The practical paddling planning clinic is all about adventure & experience and how to properly plan them!

This course offers a theoretical and practical component that teaches you how to plan and prepare for your micro-adventures and wilderness expeditions. It’s the ultimate closing module that will pull together everything learned from Wesup’s Zero to Hero Paddling Award. Be sure to know your wind and tide charts and be prepared for a 4-hour coastal expedition where you will learn how to:

  • Safely prepare for and navigate your journey
  • Read the conditions of the ocean
  • Identify safe exits points
  • Support paddle buddies who are in trouble
  • Maintain your safety when it’s all going wrong

The practical paddling planning clinic concludes our Zero to Hero Paddling Award. Upon completion of all elements of the course, you will receive a certificate of completion.

What to wear is the big question…

This course is real-world paddling, where you will need to be prepared for all eventualities. We recommend that you wear either gym kit, neoprene leggings or a 2mm wetsuit as a base layer. You should also bring back up layers in a dry bag in case you should need to warm up or cool down. A rain shell and a warm but lightweight packable jacket are essential. Waterproof socks and barefoot trainers are perfect for your feet or good quality wetsuit boots will do the job.

For any other questions, please take a look at our FAQ or drop us an email, we’d love to hear from you.
